Migration Strategy
1️⃣ Planning
Define the goals, scope, and timeline for the migration. Identify the data sources and destinations, and assess the quality of the data.
2️⃣ Prepare the data
Perform a data audit to find duplicates, inconsistencies, and missing information. Cleanse the data by deduplicating and validating it. Map the old data fields to the new Salesforce objects.
3️⃣ Choose tools
Select the appropriate tools to migrate the data, such as MuleSoft or Data Loader.
4️⃣ Sample migration in Sandbox
Run a test migration with a small subset of data in sandbox.
5️⃣ Validate the data
Validate the data accuracy and integrity after the first test migration. Make changes if required to fix the issue discovered in sample migration.
6️⃣ Execute the migration in Production
Execute the full data migration in batches, if necessary. Validate the data and test it.
7️⃣ Delta Migration & Post-migration
- Reconcile the new Salesforce records with the legacy system data.
- Do the delta migration if required.
- Set up data backups and create a disaster recovery plan.

Important Technical Note While Data Migration
- Setup profile’s access, role and sharing model in proper way to make sure the data privacy requirement of the company.
- Make sure customer does not get any unwanted email by turning off the Email >> Deliverability.
- Test the data migration first in a Sandbox, validate and then proceed the full migration.
- Keep Id of records from Finmo in an external custom field to have track after you lose the access of Finmo.
- Make sure lookup references are linked correctly.
- Keep data backup from Finmo locally if possible if it does not contradict privacy policies.
- Data migration may take upto 3 weeks to 6 weeks based on amount, complexity and number of objects to be migrated.
